Vulcan, the god  of fire














The word volcano comes from Vulcan, the Roman god of fire.
Vulcan is ften depicted with a blacksmith’s hammer.[1]
The Vulcanalia  was the annual festival on August 23 in his honour.
His Greek counterpart is Hephaestus, the god of fire and smithery.
